Biological Hemoglobin Oxygen Carrier
BHOC means Biological Hemoglobin Oxygen Carrier. It is a cell-free hemoglobin oxygen-delivery platform designed for immediate, controlled microvascular and tissue-level oxygenation when red-cell-dependent oxygen delivery is insufficient, delayed or operationally constrained, while endogenous erythropoiesis recovers.
The intended product profile is donor-independent, designed to be red-cell-antigen-free and compatible across blood types, with long shelf life and practical room-temperature logistics. By moving oxygen delivery beyond dependence on intact donor red cells, BHOC is designed to address limitations created by blood-group matching, donor availability, storage, transport, expiry and access.
Across species, blood-group systems may be known, partially characterized or unknown. BHOC uses one core cell-free oxygen-carrier architecture intended to avoid red-cell blood-group antigens, while species-specific formulation, dosing, safety and efficacy remain independent evidence requirements.
BHOC is not intended to reproduce every biological function of whole blood. Its core objective is more precise: preserve or restore effective oxygen delivery to tissues and cells when the red-cell system cannot provide it adequately or quickly enough.
