In 1998, the FDA approved Oxyglobin, hemoglobin glutamer-200 (bovine), for anemia in dogs. This is a product-specific veterinary HBOC precedent.
The historical approval does not establish BHOC approval or suitability in other species. Each application requires its own evidence for dosing, safety and efficacy.
